This cycle repeats for the duration of the workout, after which you can pat yourself on the back for taking the time to invest in your body and mind!

We make it easy for anyone to workout with PhatBurn by offering three phases of intensity:

  • Phase One – Beginner: This phase is perfect for newcomers to experience initial weight loss and improve general fitness. If you’re new to HIIT, this is a great place to start.
  • Phase Two – Intermediate: This phase ramps up the intensity to increase fat loss and further challenge yourself to push your limits and improve physical performance.
  • Phase Three – Advanced: This phase focuses on toning your body and building muscle to further enhance your physique and level up your endurance.

A fitness coach will always be leading the HIIT classes, so they can make sure you are performing each portion of the workout correctly. Unlike a video workout or text-based plan that simply gives you written instructions, having a live instructor right in front of you helps ensure you can view every angle and movement, and they can keep an eye on your form and give helpful advice in real time.

The fact that classes occur throughout the week at specific times can also help motivate you to prioritize your fitness. It can seem like there isn’t enough time in the day to workout, but really we just need to have a set time for exercise to make it happen. How To Set Yourself Up For A Successful HIIT Workout

We understand that HIIT workouts can seem intimidating at first, but the most important thing to remember is that you’re doing it for yourself and the betterment of your health and wellness! We hope that motivates you to jump in with confidence and a positive attitude, but we’re happy to provide a few more tips below to help you feel even more comfortable and informed.

Take The Workout One Section At A Time

If you’re intimidated by the intensity of a HIIT workout, try not to think about the entire session as one unified task. Each HIIT session is made up of small pieces that we string together for an effective workout — just focus on each of those small pieces as they arrive. Phrases like “live in the moment” and “be present” are great mantras to focus on when doing HIIT workouts. Try to physically and mentally pace yourself so that you can push your limits but also enjoy the journey.

Wear Appropriate Attire For Comfort And Function

The last thing you want during your workout is to be distracted by clothing that isn’t staying in place, restricts movement, and makes you feel like you’re saran wrapped inside a Finnish sauna. Choose fitted fabrics that won’t move around and gap when performing bends, squats, jumps, and other high-intensity movements. Make sure your shoes are comfortable and provide enough structure to support you during lateral movements. Wear a sports bra designed for high-impact activities. Lastly, choose materials that breathe to avoid overheating and excessive sweating.

Know How To Fuel Your Body

You know your body best! Bring a water bottle to class and don’t be shy about taking a sip break! If eating before a workout isn’t your thing, make sure you choose a class that doesn’t directly follow a meal. We offer many HIIT sessions throughout the day to make sure you can choose one that works with your lifestyle! Beyond snacks and hydration, maintaining a healthy diet will help you see results even faster. That’s why we offer chef-prepared meals as part of our program, so you can easily eat well and feel energized for every workout!

Be Open With Your Instructor

At PhatBurn, we strive to create a welcoming environment so that you feel accepted and supported throughout your fitness journey. We encourage all of our members to engage with the coaches and other participants to build connections and even friendships. Introduce yourself to your coach and offer feedback! We guarantee you’ll get more out of PhatBurn by actively participating, rather than just showing up for class and rushing out as soon as it’s over. Getting to know your instructor also allows you to more comfortably inform them of your limitations, goals, and questions. Don’t be afraid to make your concerns known, especially if you’re dealing with lingering issues from a previous injury. Your coach is there to modify the workout to meet your needs, whether that be through increasing the intensity or toning it down.

The best advice we can give regarding performance is to pretend like no one else is in the room, not even the coach. The only competition here is to be better than you were yesterday!
