The Simple Trick to Not Skipping the Gym
As I write this it is the end of July. Between all the traveling and work the summer has always been the toughest time of year for me to stay consistent getting to the gym.
However, this summer I did do a much better job staying consistent.
Whether it was going to a PhatBurn class or just going for a bike ride during these beautiful summer months I have managed to get in five solid days of training every week all summer.
How do you do it?
The answer is so simple you’re going to laugh, but, it is true and it works.
Plan your workouts. THAT’S IT…
I know it’s not revolutionary but this simple trick got me through the whole summer.
Before you go to bed or as soon as you wake up in the morning make sure you determine right then and there when you are going to work out.
By doing this you know when your gym time is and you can plan your day around it.
The 3 things that used to cause a skip day for me.
- Procrastination – It is mentally easier when you just know what time you are training. It allows your brain to relax and not have to worry about when you are going to find the time.
- Not making the gym a priority. Instead of waiting all day and then been too busy to go or saying you’re too tired and you’ll just go tomorrow, planning actually makes you drop the things you are doing to get your ass into the gym. Your gym time becomes a priority.
- If you really can’t work out that day at least you realize it and plan the workout for one of your off days. Again, you will feel better mentally at least knowing you are not missing a gym day.
That’s really all it takes and believe me it makes the difference.
You feel better mentally, your day is more structured and most importantly you know you are going to the gym which is the whole point.
You probably schedule everything else that is important in your life. Why not just include the gym as well.
