Where does the fat go when you lose weight?

[dt_sc_one_half first]

Some people think it’s converted into energy or heat.  Is it sweat out while you work out?  Does it turn into muscle?

I mean, it’s got to go somewhere right?

According to the calculations done by the British Medical Journal most of it is breathed out of your body as carbon dioxide.

The excess food you eat are converted into chemical compounds called triglycerides which are comprised of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and stored in fat cells.  When you you lose weight you are trying to metabolize those triglycerides which release the carbon stored in those fat cells.

Who knew that the lungs were the primary excretory organ for weight loss.

While the majority is released as Co2, the rest is released through bodily fluids like sweat, urine, breath and tears.

So next time you’re in between sets breathing heavy just imagine those increased breathes are more fat your breathing right out of your body.  That should inspire you to get back up and finish your workout strong!

Keep breathing baby…
