Deadlift Variations

The deadlift is a strength exercise that works several muscle groups, including your back, glutes and legs. It is one of only a handful of exercises that target muscles in the upper and lower body. Performing a deadlift with proper form is necessary to reduce the risk of injury, particularly to the low back.

Chris Jackon, studio leader at Phatburn in Stamford, CT describes a cool variation to the deadlift with a false grip using a pause and a slow descent.

Check it out below:

Try Chris’s deadlift in front of a mirror or with a trainer to ensure your form is correct.

Whether you are new to working out or an expert, strength training should be a staple in your fitness regimen.  Weight lifiting not only helps you grow your muscle and get stronger but also allows you to sustain your lean body mass.  This is important as you age so that you do not burn less calories each day at rest from having less muscle mass.  Deadlifts and weight training will help you lose weight, lose fat and help keep you defined and cut while building muscle.
